Every year, the American Advertising Federation hosts the American Advertising Awards (ADDYs), which is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition. This year, the local Toledo chapter’s event was hosted virtually on Thursday, March 11, and we’re thrilled to announce that one of our client partners was among the celebrated winners!

National Hardware
, a leading manufacturer of builders’ hardware, won a Bronze ADDY Award for their redesigned website. We worked with the National Hardware team on this website to help homeowners rethink hardware for home improvement projects by showing them just how fun and easy DIY-ing can be through an engaging online experience.

Congratulations again to our partners at National Hardware, and thank you to our internal teams here at Hanson who worked so hard to produce all of our amazing work over the past year!

On Mobile Forms and Homer Simpson Fingers

There’s an old episode of The Simpsons where Homer, working from home, tries to call the nuclear plant to warn about a meltdown. As he dials, he hears the following recording: “The fingers you have used to dial are too fat. To obtain a special dialing wand, please mash the keypad with your palm now.”

Designing successful mobile forms is about removing as much data entry as possible and optimizing what remains so even Homer Simpson could fill them out.

The Evolution of Web Hosting

Hanson often provides hosting recommendations, solutions and services to our clients. Like most technologies we deal with, this is a rapidly evolving part of web development. The hosting options available today would appear alien to developers and system engineers from only a few years ago. So for those interested in a little technology time travel, I present: the evolution of web hosting.

Steve Bumbaugh of Hanson Inc. presents the evolution of web hosting, from workstations (Hostopithecus) to cloud computing (Hamazon Sapiens) and beyond.
