Account Director

Hanson seeks a full-time professional and exceptionally talented marketing leader; an Account Director with proven experience managing client relationships and directing and mentoring an internal Account Team. Work for our clients includes engagement solutions to the consumer, trade and dealer/retail channel. This Account Director will help build, manage and execute digital solutions and integrated online programs.

As the Account Director, you are accountable to the overall client relationship and the success of your account team. As such, you will ensure client business objectives are being exceeded and that Hanson is delivering on expectations. You must have great communication skills, be able to grow and mentor a team and support the goals of our clients and our company. And you’ve got to be good on your feet, good in the moment. If you’ve got these skills and can wrap them around the ability to generate ideas you just may be the right person.

Required Skills

  • 5-10 years of experience in marketing communications, advertising or brand management at an agency or in a corporate role; ideally, you will have worked in an agency for a minimum of 4 years
  • We are a digital agency, as such you’ll need to have 3-5 years experience in managing digital solutions including website development, mobile app development, online advertising campaigns and/or social media
  • Proven, successful experience in leading and mentoring account personnel
  • Skills we look for include a clear understanding of web strategy and the technology necessary to work with marketing and IS/IT client contacts
  • It’s about relationships, being a diplomat, a strategist, psychologist, salesperson, coach and mentor to our clients and our team
  • Monitor account analytics and project performance, providing insight and counsel on improving the agency relationship
  • Manage multiple projects within a common account or multiple clients with an annual portfolio of $750,000 – $2,000,000
  • Formulate project objectives and tactics
  • Write Creative Briefs, Proposals, Presentations and SOWs

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of clients’ business, industry, and competitive environment
  • Demonstrates a sense of ownership for the overall client relationship
  • Is a trusted partner to clients, and is counted on for proactive leadership and valued counsel by clients
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of Hanson’s capabilities and is able to communicate/represent those capabilities to clients
  • Ensures client satisfaction and appropriate client ROI and value-added services
  • Effectively manages clients’ expectations and provides good communications to/from the client
  • Demonstrates the ability to write-up and present Hanson solutions to clients
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clients’ project status and is able to communicate it appropriately with client
  • Develops accurate financial projections
  • Leads annual budgeting and planning process for his/her accounts
  • Leads development of effective proposals and presentations, integrating input from other departments and functions
  • Manages timing of projects, balancing client need with internal capacity
  • Demonstrates loyalty and concern for Hanson organization and profitability
  • Consistently provides clear briefings, guidance and background of the client to the rest of Hanson (within Account Services and other functions)
  • Manages relationship between clients and other Hanson departments
  • Effectively manages, supervises and develops Account Managers

  • Works effectively with Strategy department to develop and manage strategic “roadmaps” for client(s)
