Mercy Health Partners, a leading Ohio health care system, wanted to increase the effectiveness of its Heart Center and Children's Hospital websites, creating lifelong patients who could depend on the websites as a vital health care resource. Hanson was retained to redesign the websites and create compelling content to attract Mercy patients, customers and other website visitors on a frequent basis.

Utilizing its engineering, design and strategy capabilities, Hanson rebuilt the websites for Mercy’s Heart Center and Children’s Hospital. Heart Center content included secure and personal health files for patients to track their illnesses, family history, diet and nutrition, and exercise; reference links for common heart-related illnesses and prevention; a cyber briefing on inpatient and outpatient heart procedures; and a calendar of events, classes and support groups.

For both the Heart Center and Children’s Hospital websites, Hanson helped develop Mercy’s Ask A Nurse program, which allows site visitors to ask Mercy nurses health-related questions.

We created a Common Illnesses and Injuries guide, providing detailed treatment information and data on a variety of conditions often experienced by children. We also added a secure area for parents to document their children's health records, including immunizations, illnesses, bills and appointments. Finally, we provided Mercy with software they could use to continuously manage all the content updates on both sites without the need for an outside vendor.

The easy-to-navigate, well-designed websites increased Mercy’s on-line traffic, giving patients access to supplemental health care information, and augmenting information usually received during physician visits.
