Hanson Helps Jotun Customers Show Their True Colors

Situation

In early 2004, Norway-based Jotun Decorative Paints wanted to replicate an in-store visualization kiosk online, using the same data and technology. The online tool needed to be accessible in multiple languages, and scalable. Of course, any changes to the Jotun website needed to echo and enhance the corporate brand.

First, Hanson developed a new visual design scheme for the Jotun.no site that would be easily incorporated throughout all global Jotun sites, and complemented its corporate "look and feel."

The main work was the ColorAdvisor: A visualization tool that allows users to change colors within an array of interior and exterior scenes. As a technology integrator, Hanson adapted the existing kiosk technology for the Jotun site. The solution enables Jotun to maintain one set of data for both interfaces.

For the ColorAdvisor's back end, Hanson created a custom content management system that accommodates multiple languages. The custom CMS has the flexibility to add new languages easily.

In 2004, Norway’s Kommunikasjonsforeningen (Communication Union) named the new Jotun site as "Web site of the Year." It was chosen unanimously out of more than 40 entries.
