Hanson helps HGTV.com capitalize on 'color'

Situation

"Color" is one of the most popular search terms on the home improvement site HGTV.com. With such a high level of interest in the topic, the site's owner, Scripps Networks Interactive, was looking for ways to meet the existing demand and attract new visitors in the process.

In early 2007, Hanson Inc. worked with Scripps Networks Interactive to develop the Choose Color interactive tool. Choose Color demonstrates how the use of stylish color combinations arranged in 60-30-10 proportions can impact a room's design. Users are able to select palettes arranged in these proportions and apply them to pre-selected room images. Users may then print their selections or share them with a friend via email.

Hanson created Choose Color by combining a custom-produced Flash application with a Swatchbox rendering engine. All HTML, JavaScript and Flash meet HGTV.com's page templates, advertising and analytical integration requirements.
